The objective of this review was to identify the trends of the most recent studies in Occupational Therapy in geriatrics and gerontology based on two Brazilian Occupational Therapy journals. The methodology used was a scoping review of the literature published in the Brazilian Journal of Occupational Therapy and the Occupational Therapy Journal of University of São Paulo between 2010 and 2015. The articles were analyzed based on their main themes, defined after the review of their contents: Evaluative instruments and protocols, vocational training, approaches, techniques and therapeutic resources, care of senior people. It was concluded that, despite the small number of publications, the area has been approached in various ways by occupational therapists, reflecting different possibilities of this professional area of practice, although focused on healthcare. It is pointed out that there are gaps to be filled, especially in regard to the understanding of the aging process as a social phenomenon.
