Participación ocupacional de cuidadores de niños, niñas y adolescentes con trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad

El cuidado de un hijo o hija con trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad puede tener consecuencias en diferentes áreas ocupacionales. Se presenta una revisión de alcance dirigida a conocer los efectos en la participación social, trabajo y ocio de personas cuidadoras de niños, niñas y adolescentes con este diagnóstico. Se revisaron 22 artículos publicados entre 2003 y 2023, en español e inglés, e indexados en las bases de datos Pubmed, Scopus y Springer. Los textos muestran que las personas cuidadoras experimentan afectación en las áreas ocupacionales estudiadas. En la vida laboral, incluyendo abandono del trabajo o cambio de jornada. Se afecta la participación en actividades sociales, como reuniones con amistades, familia o salidas fuera del hogar. Se disminuyen las actividades de ocio o placenteras, debido a la carga de tiempo que demanda el cuidado y a dificultades asociadas a hacer estas actividades con los niños y las niñas. Se concluye que la afectación de las áreas ocupacionales es diversa y relevante. La Terapia Ocupacional puede ser un aporte en la prevención e intervención de estas afectaciones.
